10 Creative Ways to Keep Your Toddler Busy

  • On November 22, 2016

Toddlers might need a fair amount of sleep according to scientists, but if you’re a parent of one, you might be a bit more familiar with their energetic side. That’s because toddlers can easily wear out a grown adult and still have energy to spare.

Developing Bodies & Minds

Keeping your toddler busy and active is an important part of their development though. Activities like watching educational TV might have their place, but toddlers need to move around and exercise their bodies and minds at the same time.

Here we’ve compiled a list of 10 creative ways to keep your toddler busy and active.

    • Build a Fort

Building lets your child express themselves creatively and learn how different shapes interact. A blanket fort gives them a fun place to hide, read a story and play once they are done building.

    • Paint with Food

It may be a little bit messy, but painting with condiments or yogurt allows your child to have fun with art without the risk of eating paint at a young age.

    • Go to a Trampoline Park

This is one of our favorite toddler activities. Trampoline parks like Zero Gravity offer a safe and fun way for your children to let loose and get some exercise. Along with indoor jumping places, Zero Gravity offers many other fun activities to keep your child moving.

    • Go on a Nature Walk

The more they walk and play, the better they sleep and learn. Go for a walk around your neighborhood to see the birds and the flowers.

    • Pack a Picnic

The sense of accomplishment your child has when they help you put together a meal and share it with the whole family is second to none.

    • Plant a Garden

Toddlers are amazed by the way plants grow up from the ground. This is a long-term task that teaches important lessons about how we get our food and nature.

    • Make Music

Make drums out of pots and pans or a guitar out of a Kleenex box and rubber bands. Whatever you do, just let them explore the sounds around them and play as loud as they like.

    • Roller skating

It’s never too early to start learning how to scoot around the roller skating rink. With flashy lights and fun music, this is a great way to exercise and engage all the senses.

    • Play Hide & Seek

Running, hiding, counting. This is a great activity for learning and exercising at the same time.

    • Go for a Swim

Even during the colder months, what kid doesn’t love splashing around in the pool? Recreation centers are heated and most have children’s pools just for toddlers!

Zero Gravity
